Bone Broth Uses

So you’ve probably heard by now that bone broth is a superfood, a health tonic, and a life changer, correct? So are you living the broth life yet? Are you reaping all the benefits of pastured, slow simmered, liquid love? If not, it’s something well worth considering!

If you’re like most people, you have no problem grasping the notion that bone broth is one huge healthy step in the right direction. But sometimes gridlock comes with knowing how to use it. Bone broth is EXTREMELY versatile and can be used for so much more than just soup. There’s certainly nothing wrong with soup, of course, and we obviously love soup around here. But let’s look at some easy and delicious ways to use bone broth:

  • Freeze broth – in ice cube trays for perfect portioning when you just need a little bit. This makes for the perfect amount to make a sauce or gravy.
  • Smoothies – Use bone broth (unsalted) instead of milk or water to take that smoothie to a whole new level. You can either use it as a liquid or add frozen broth cubes.
  • Make a Warming Herb Sipper – Certain herbs have the ability to help us feel warmer and stimulate circulation. Simmer herbs like ginger, garlic, cayenne, cinnamon, and cardamom in bone broth for 5 min. Add some sea salt and have a mug every day.

  • Add It In – Use broth in mashed potatoes, gravy, sauces, cauliflower, rice, spaghetti sauce, or braised meats. Boil quinoa, rice, and pasta in it, or you can sauté veggies in it.
  • Make it a Habit – Swap out your daily cup of joe for a steamy cup of broth. Have a cup before breakfast, (or any meal) to wake up your stomach and aid in digestion. Mix with MCT oil and/or pastured butter for a bulletproof cup of broth.
  • In a Bottle or Sippy Cup – Start the kiddos off young with a bone broth love affair. Introduce broth first instead of juice. Or if your little one already drinks juice, dilute it with broth. Sipping broth through a glass straw and a special mug makes it extra fun to drink it up!
    • You can also make your own baby food and use broth to dilute pureed veggies.

  • Soup or Stew – Use bone broth as a base for all your soups and stews. Who needs the bland, lacking-in-nutrients stuff you get on the shelves at the store? Bone broth is the bomb and will take your soup and stew up five billion notches.
